Case Size: 48” x 34.75” x 12”

A finely detailed model within a glass and wood case, the plaque reading: “Shamrock V” / Sir Thomas J. Lipton R.Y.S. / L.O.A. 119’-9” Beam 19’-7 1/2” / 1930 / Model by Boucher New York.

This fine model of the Shamrock V was commissioned by Sir Thomas Lipton prior to his last unsuccessful challenge for the America’s Cup.

The maker, Horace Boucher (1873-1935), originally worked for the US navy as a draftsman and then a model builder, before going into business on his own in 1905. He soon became nationally renowned as the premier maker of fine scale ship models, many of which remain on display in many maritime museums, yacht clubs and government offices throughout the country.
