Apostle spoons dating to the reign of Henry VIII are rare; rarer still to find them in exceptional condition, as in this case.

The gilded finial presents St. James the Greater holding a pilgrim’s staff. The nimbus is pierced. The reverse of the bowl bears an old collection label which misdates the piece to 1518.
