This jug demonstrates the best version of the decoration Tiffany used on pieces of this form, with numerous flora and fauna in multiple colors and extremely fine detail. The condition of this jug is superlative, among the best preserved examples of Tiffany's mixed-metal work to be found anywhere in the world. The applied and engraved decoration is incredibly crisp, with practically no wear evident anywhere on the surface.
With applied copper and Japanese gold iris, dragonflies, and koi fish in a pond with bamboo and reeds, the loop handle with copper bands, engraved on the underside with foliate monogram LHY and XMAS 1880, marked on underside and numbered 3077-1929 and with other metals number 785.
A copper laminated example of this model is illustrated in J. Loring, Magnificent Tiffany Silver, New York, 2001, pp. 46-47.
