A very fine Elizabethan seal-top, whose quality has long been recognized: apparently this spoon was copied in electroplate in the 1960s by Gorham. The copy is stamped "by Gorham for Horizon" and "Elizabethan circa "1593". That spoon is accompanied by an information sheet that states that the original was from Christ College Cambridge. It undoubtedly came from the collection of Dr. Valentine-Richards, a group of over 100 spoons that the college subsequently sold in the 1970s.
