Consisting of a teapot, sugar and creamer, each with hammered surface engraved and applied with Japanese style foliage, fruit and bugs, the teapot with vertical loop handle and pull-off cover, the sugar and creamer with gilt interiors.
This set was influenced by a Tiffany tea kettle that was created in 1878 for the Exposition Universal in Paris. It is now accompanied by a later stand of 1889 and is in the collection of the Art Institute of Chicago (1986, 407a-e, Gallery 176).
