SOLD - A Rare Pair of Early American Silver Candlesticks
Description
These are amongst the rarest items known in American silver--rarer, ironically, than earlier candlesticks from the 1720s-70s. We know of about fifteen pairs of cast candlesticks from before 1770, but only four pairs from this later period. Engraved with initials "B/II" on shank, with conforming removable bobeche, marked on both bases and bobeches.
