Description

A rare survival, with original extinguishers, snuffers, and bobeches. Snuffers seem usually to have been made by specialist smallworkers, in this case Thomas Radcliffe, presumably due to the specialized skill of attaching the steel cutting edges to the silver scissors.

The arms are those of Burrell of Milfield and Brome Park, Northumberland, for William Burrell (b. 1773) and his wife Eleanor Forster. William was Justice of the Peace for Northumberland, Deputy Lieutenant and High Sheriff.
