A Charles II Antique English Silver Death's Head Spoon
A very rare "death's head spoon" engraved with a skull, and the words: Live to Die; Die to Live, on either side of the handle. These spoons (we believe seven are known) were all made in York between 1650 and 1662, and are all engraved with the arms of the Strickland family. Presumably they were a rather morbid series of Christening gifts, or an optimistic series of legacies. Always look on the bright side of life!
