Description

Use of the term "bleeding bowl" to describe these vessels is an English tradition, and though I have been told that old paintings exist showing patients being bled by their physicians, and the blood being collected in this type of bowl"...I've never seen one. It's more likely that these bowls were used in England as they were in America: to eat from. But we have some reverence for traditions here, so we're sticking with "bleeding bowl." And as my step-father used to say: "Madam, if you buy it you can use it for anything you like." -Tim
