This mark previously attributed to William Maundy has been re-attributed to William Maddox (free 1606, died after September 1644).<br /><br />
Maddox specialized in small dishes. Jackson lists four dishes with this mark from 1630-34 (Revised Jackson, 1989, p. 115). A very similar sweetmeat dish 1633 was sold London, 12 December 1974, lot 100, illustrated The Sotheby's Directory of Silver, no. 419, p. 125
