The design number ‘439’ just below the maker’s mark on each piece indicates this set was made between 1880 and 1882. See ”The Japanese Silver of the Whiting Manufacturing Company” by Abigail Nova, Antiques Magazine.
This piece has been authorized for sale by the DEC (Identification number 29-4 issued 7-7-16) indicating that it and the the ivory incorporated in it has been accepted as an antique, can be sold interstate and intrastate in New York.
